Earlier this month we told you about the emergence of the Denza brand – a joint venture between Chinese carmaker BYD and German giant Daimler. Now, the first electric vehicle under the brand has made its debut at Auto China 2012.
The concept car – known as Tengshi (pictured) – will be built and sold in China.
he company has been set up to purely target new energy vehicles with China seen as having massive potential for the market thanks to an expanding middle class community; as well as increased urbanisation and the open-mindedness of its consumers.
In addition, BYD has also been busy at the event. It unveiled the new Dual Mode Qin at the showcase – a next-generation electric vehicle that takes advantage of the BYD Dual Mode II system and improves the F3DM system.
It is said to boast a seven per cent improvement in fuel efficiency and it can travel for 31miles on a single charge. It can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 6.9seconds and features a top speed of 115mph.
The BYD Qin (pictured) has also been designed with an emphasis on the intelligent cloud system platform – with telematics, cloud computing and a full range of services all incorporated into its design.
