Toyota president Akio Toyoda hopes the Yundong Shuangqing will make Chinese customers happy. “We would like to put smiles on the faces of our Chinese customers with hybrid technology. I want the people of China to be able to experience the beauty of hybrid technology through a hybrid car born in China,” Toyoda said during the concept’s reveal. The Yundong Shuangqing will be made in China and for China only, with the hybrid system locally produced at Toyota’s R&D center in Changshu, China. The other two concepts, the Toyota Dear Qin sedan and hatchback, are compact concepts aimed at grabbing entry-level buyers around the world.
While the three new concepts were the focus of the Toyota display, the automaker didn’t shy away from showing all other types of vehicles. Also on display was the “Welcab” series for the disabled. The series of cars, which includes a Prius, includes factory-installed features that make transport much easier. Enthusiasts also got their fix with the Toyota 86 rear-drive sports car along with the original Toyota AE86.
