Mercedes-Benz CLK-Black Series Race Car Teased by Evosport and MBBS

Mercedes-Benz CLK-Black Series Race Car Teased by Evosport and MBBS Evosport and MBBS are known in the tuning circles as making some of the most awesome BMW and Mercedes race-spec cars. They’re now teasing a new race car that will be entered into the Pirelli World Challenge GT.

The only details we have of the car is that it’ll be based on an AMG Black Series car. That should come as no surpise since Evosport has likely tuned more Black Series cars than anyone in the world (except for maybe Mercedes-Benz). We expect to see the car based on the Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series, which sounds a bit strange because the CLK is a few years old now, and has since been replaced.

The original CLK 63 AMG Black Series was made between 2007 and 2009, and had a 6.3-liter V8 that made 500 horsepower and 465 lb-ft  of torque. It also had a slew of other improvements over the normal CLK 63 AMG, which helped it get to 60mph in 4 seconds, and 100 mph in 8.8. It’ll be interesting to see how far Evosport and MBBS (evosports racing division) take the CLK Black Series.

The Race team will be headed up by none other than Craig Stanton, who has quite a bit of experience in racing, having won several professional titles. He’s also spent years testing cars for manufacturers such as Mercedes Benz/AMG, Porsche, Michelin, Nissan, Infiniti, Yokohama, Continental, Chevrolet, Ford, and Subaru. Stanton will be the development driver for Evosport  in order to help the company develop a range of performance products for Mercedes-Benz automobiles.

Evosport is expected to showcase the race car on May 23, so we’ll get more info about the car then, but for now check out the teaser image (above) Evosport sent us.
