Subaru BRZ to cost £24,995

Subaru-BRZ The Subaru BRZ will cost from £24,995 – the same as the Toyota GT 86 sister car – when it goes on sale in the UK in the summer.

This price has been confirmed today and comes as a slight surprise because it was expected that the Subaru would carry a price premium over the Toyota.

The BRZ is available in two trim levels – 2.0i SE and 2.0i SE Lux. Standard equipment on SE models comprises a six-speed manual gearbox (the six-speed automatic with paddle shift operation is available for an extra £1500), a limited slip differential and 17-inch alloys.

Inside the cabin, the BRZ features air conditioning, cruise control, electric folding and heated door mirrors, push-button engine start, leather-trimmed steering wheel and iPod connectivity. In addition to SE models, SE Lux cars include heated leather seats. An optional sat-nav system will set you back a further £1000.

A cheaper, more basic S-spec BRZ model will be launched in 2013.

Six exterior colours are available: Satin White Pearl, Sterling Silver Metallic, Dark Grey Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, San Remo Red, and WR Blue Mica.

Subaru UK marketing director Kenyon Neads said: “Early demand is strong so we fully expect that some early customers will have to wait some months for delivery, especially during 2012, but we have no doubt they will agree it will be worth the wait.”
